***** reports say that Virginia could be passing new Congressional maps if Democrats win this November. I'm Mike Pruitt, the LGBTQ Navy Veteran and county lawmaker who got in the race to flip VA-05-one of our closest congressional districts-NOT because I thought the district lines would change. Let me explain:

The Navy gave me the skills to lead sailors as a Naval Surface Warfare officer aboard two warships during deployments to combat zones in the Middle East.

For too long, the powerful and well-connected have used their outsized influence to walk all over poor and working-class communities like the one I grew up in. 

Need proof? Look at how this year Congress **put the boot on our neck** by voting to GUT support for rural hospitals and food assistance-and my opponent is bought and paid for by the big corporations and special interests screwing us over. But even with his patrons in Wall Street and Silicon Valley, we out-raised him last quarter. Yes, that's before any mention of redistricting.

Look, I got in this race because I know I can win a rural, purple district because these are the kind of working class folks I grew up around. That's not going to change, no matter what happens in November or after.
