See that photo from January 6th, ***** My opponent, Ken Paxton, was there that day - on stage, riling up the crowd that would soon storm the Capitol. He told them "We will not quit fighting." Then, they marched on to cause chaos, destruction, and even fatalities.

While Paxton was out there feeding the lies that nearly destroyed our democracy, I was inside the House chamber - doing my job, ready to defend my colleagues from whatever came through that door.

As we heard people pounding on the door in Congress, I texted my wife, Aly, who was seven months pregnant with our second son: "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂."

That's the difference between us. Paxton fueled the fire that led to that historic attack on our Capitol. I stood up to it.

Now he's the leading Republican running for Senate here in Texas. And we cannot let someone who cheered on the insurrection represent us.
