Aisha Farooqi

My name is Aisha Farooqi. I'm an immigrant, an attorney, a former prosecutor, past union member, and a proud progressive running for Congress in Michigan's open 11th District. 

My family immigrated to the United States after my mother earned a scholarship to study at the University of Detroit Mercy. I attended a public school that was so underfunded, we didn't even have textbooks one semester. That's when I realized the American Dream was out of reach for too many people.

As an attorney, I chose to serve-running my own law firm, often providing pro bono services, and later working for legal aid. As a prosecutor, I kept our communities safe by holding criminals accountable, while ensuring young people got the second chances they deserved.

Don't you think there are a lot of billionaires and out-of-touch politicians who could use some accountability? Establishment politicians say they'll fight for us, but too many Democrats fail to meet the moment and instead side with billionaires and extremist Republicans.
